Like everyone we are eager to embrace Spring and all of it’s beautiful colors, especially after this very dreary March! Easter is just a few days away and we are focused on some non-traditional desserts for the Holiday. Instead of serving up the usual puddings, cakes and pies, take a look at some of these options and consider incorporating them in your Easter meal.
Individual desserts that are not too heavy to consume after a big holiday meal are a sophisticated way for your guests to have a sweet treat. We love the simplicity and beautiful color of the Mini Lavender Pana Cotta cups posted by Burnett’s Boards. Looking for something a little heartier, the adorable Lemon Tiramisu from The Wicked Noodle and elegant Strawberry Cheesecake Mousse from Alchemy Baking will hit the spot after a festive meal.
Food Tip: These desserts are perfect to incorporate into your Spring repertoire for bridal and baby showers or just a simple luncheon with friends.
You can still add pops of color to your dessert display for the holiday without using peeps, bunnies and carrots! We love the idea of bite size pretty desserts that are light and delicious. Instead of accenting your table with colored hard boiled eggs, try out these beautiful Marbled Easter Egg Truffles from Sugar Hero. They make a wonderful centerpiece when placed in a beautiful basket. If you are looking to move away from chocolate and would like a lighter fare, these Pastel Meringue Nests from Sweetapolita are quick, easy and can be filled with anything from fruit and frosting to curds and creams.
Our all time favorite Easter candy is the original Cadbury Creme egg. Honestly, as soon as those eggs hit the shelves, we start to stock up! That is why when we saw this decadent Crème Egg Cheesecake from Rasberri Cupcakes, we had to include it in our blog! Kids and adults will love this dessert!
Not a cheesecake fan but still love incorporating candy into your baked treats? Try something more sophisticated like Caramel Egg Stuffed Croissants from Taming Twins as well. This can easily be made with store bought crescent rolls and frozen caramel eggs or even our favorite Cadbury Crème Eggs! Pair them with fresh fruit and you have a decadent Easter brunch surprise. Make sure you pop the Cadbury Crème Eggs in the refrigerator for about an hour to minimize their goo.
If you are more of a traditionalist and crave some carrot cake but want to add a twist to your dessert table, try these carrot cake macaroons from Lara Ferroni. You can still enjoy the traditional flavor and simplicity of a carrot cake, accented with maple cream cheese frosting but in a small bite. Additionally, these could be packaged as favors for your guests to take home.
